thanks a lot for you reply - we appreciate!
I can understand your reasons completely.
We always suggest to every STEPS8000 biker that he/she should buy a PCE1 interface, no matter if they use eMax or not.
We believe that this interface is the best tool you could have to do some self diagnosis of your bike, because most bike dealers are not experienced to do this stuff.
We already know a lot of STEPS8000 riders who had problems with a broken bluetooth firmware download (via app) and the STEPS system was not able to boot up any more. So these people had to dismount their motor out of the frame and send it to a long journey...
This could have been avoided if they have had a PCE1 interface and would have been experienced with the "directed connection diagnosis" mode of eTube...
That´s why...
So our opinion if somebody is spening thousands of euros to a bike: please get a PCE1 interface too, it is definitely worth the money and you're prepared for worst case scenarios and independant...

I had a broken update a few weeks ago, and the only solution was to bring the bike to a Shimano Center, luckily a few kilometers far from my house, and have it serviced by the tech...
But I won't buy the PCE1 interface as I am a long time Mac user, and E-Tube, besides the smartphone/tablet versions, works only on Windows PCs.
So, well over 100 € for the PCE1, some other 80 € for a Win emulator for OSX and another 145 € for a licensed Win 10...
I'll think about this when I will be out of warranty.

quindi se ho capito bene, con freemax posso modificare tutto tranne lo sblocco della velocità, è corretto? E' gratis e mi serve solo l'interfaccia di collegamento.
Posso usarlo con qualsiasi versione di fw di shimano?

max916, ho deciso di comprare il PCE1, appena mi arriva provo a smanettare con freemax e ci faccio una breve recensione...spero che possa essere utile. comunque da quel che ho capito freemax funziona con ogni versione non serve il downgrade, il downgrade alla 4.3.2 serve solo con la versione "full" eMax. con freemax non fai lo sblocco della velocità esatto.

The eMax & freeMax team is quite busy at the moment because today a new firmware was released from Shimano.
There is already a brandnew and tested version of the freeMax software (version 0.92 beta) available right now: www.eMax-Tuning.com/freeMax.zip.

This freeMax version will work with the latest 3 Shimano firmware versions 4.3.2, 4.3.4 and the newest 4.4.2.

"Max. torque" è la coppia che il motore può applicare nella modalità selezionata.
"assist ration" è la relazione tra motore e uomo
Boost/ High => assist ratio: 300% / max. torque 70Nm => corrisponde a 23,3 Nm (70Nm/3) uomo e 70 Nm (23,3Nm*3) motore.

Nelle modalità eco e boost si, lui mette una percentuale di quello che ci metti tu (ad es il 50% o il 300%) mentre nella modalità trail la percentuale è variabile, più spingi e più la percentuale aumenta (modalità dinamica tipo emtb bosch).
Per spiegare meglio:
Eco 50% > tu metti 100w e il motore 50w, tu metti 200w e il motore 100w =sempre 50%
Boost > tu metti 100w e il motore 300w, tu metti 200w e il motore 600w (se ci riesce) = sempre 300%
Trail > tu metti 100w e il motore 100w, tu metti 200w e il motore 300w = da 100% a 150%

Numeri a casi solo per esemplificare.
Il max torque funge da limitatore, che nelle modalità boost e trail corrispondono alla massima potenza del motore mentre nella modalità eco (da quanto ho potuto appurare) invece è un valora inferiore . Infatti, pur spingendo al massimo non sono mai riuscito a far salire la "barretta" dell'assistenza al massimo ma solo fino a metà o poco oltre.
